The Lewk.
Paying Homage
The Space City Sisters have been battling it out Thunderdome style for MONTHS over our coronet and habit! We wanted something unique, simple, easy to identify, and ICONIC! After several failed attempts and ideas that, while stunning, would be unreasonable… we did it!
In an effort to pay homage to our amazing city and looking towards the future, we kept with the Space City theme. NASA is such an integral part of Houston, bringing jobs, research, and dreams to an already vibrant city. We already have a Rocket Nun as our logo, so why not take it a step further?
The higher the coronet…
Not only did we launch a fabulous coronet, we made the tallest one in Texas! People will see us coming… as if the white faces and the feathers didn’t tip them off to begin with. Designed to look like the NASA Space Shuttle Program logo, we embraced the deco design that also resonates with some fabulous Downtown buildings.
Completing the Lewk
We are known for bold colors, feathers, glitter, and leaving angry cleaning staff in our wake. Throw on a simple black dress with a white scapular, and VOILA! You have a Rocket Nun!
We came across the scapular by random luck! Sister Jenna Say-Quoi found one at Goodwill! We have since been working quickly to figure out how to snatch that lewk and make it our own. Due to a wide, um, range of sizes in our house, identical outfits can be difficult to come by. We decided to keep to our roots of free expression and individuality by requiring only a simple, floor length, black dress to be worn with a white scapular. We are on track to “unveil” these soon!
